I had the privilege of doing an interview with my friend Robert MacPhee. As the author of Manifesting for Non-Gurus, a new book soon to be released, and the founder of Heart Set, Inc., Robert has his heart set on helping people achieve their potential. Here’s a sampling of what we discussed on the call…
What does Manifesting for Non-Gurus mean?
Manifesting means creating what you want easily, effortlessly & quickly.
Non-guru comes from two things –
- There’s so much information available to everyone, not just those who do in depth studying…like the gurus of the past.
- We really don’t need someone else telling us what to do – we don’t need a guru to have success. This is based on the philosophy that if something sounds good to you, try it. If it works, keep doing it. Otherwise, find something else that works.
Where did this concept come from?
Mostly from observations between people who were accomplishing much and making it look easy, with others were working harder & longer and achieving less with more effort. The observations evolved into a 5 step process that captured the differences.
What are the 5 steps to Manifesting for Non-Gurus?
1. Look at who you are.
a. Have a clear sense of your mission, vision, & values.
b. Look at your unique skills, abilities & talents. First identify what you really love to do, then what you are good at, instead of the other way around. What happens is that even if you’re not good at what you love to do, if you continue doing it, you’ll eventually get good at it. But the opposite is not true – if you don’t love what you are good at, usually that doesn’t just change!
c. Clarify what you desire to contribute.
2. Ask & answer the question: What am I intending to create? This is different than the question most people are asking – what do I want? This question has feeling of need, lack & scarcity as it focuses on what you don’t have. Having an intention to create something is totally different & an important distinction!
3. Connect to the feeling and emotion you will experience when you have accomplished whatever it is you intend to create. This is the KEY. It’s what’s missing for most people who go from what I want to action. It takes very little time and yet makes a profound difference over time!
4. Detachment. The key here is to be okay not getting the goal versus wanting it so bad that you attach to it. Here, gratitude is important. When you appreciate the opportunities as well as what you already have, it makes it easier to detach. Detach from opinions & judgments as well.
5. Take inspired action – it’s simple & straightforward.
