You can’t just stop an old habit or start a new one…you’ve got to replace what’s there.

How Replacement Helps

Utilize the Law of Replacement to overcome the conflict caused by continually packing more & more onto an already full plate.  We follow patterns like this – always looking for the quick fix.  In personal development, quick fixes are just that – quick, and not usually permanent.  You’ve got to be willing to change the foundation to create long term results – happiness, success, etc., and changing the foundation requires replacing those patterns.

When it comes to your support, the Law of Replacement is in full effect.  Your success requires replacing things that are not helping you achieve with the things that will help you.

Letting go is not always easy – we have lots of reason for emotional attachments.  Those attachments make it challenging to utilize the Law of Replacement.  But it’s vital to achieving success, especially when the success means getting somewhere you’ve never been.

High Intention, Low Attachment – be willing to replace what’s not working.  Keep a high intention to your purpose, values, authenticity, passions…but everything else is replaceable, so there’s a low attachment to the details.

Clarity – You must have clarity around your purpose, values, goals, etc.  With clarity, you gain the emotional leverage needed to “test & tweak” – figuring out what to replace in order to build that solid foundation.

Due to the emotional attachments and often the lack of clarity, it’s much easier to do this with a coach, who has a neutral set of eyes and is not invested in the story.  They can help give you permission to trust your intuition.  We often know what’s working & what’s not, the key is to be receptive, open & honest.

7 Areas to Review for Replacement

1.      People – Friends & family, network, support system, etc.  Are they pulling you down or lifting you up?

2.      Physical Environment – Your physical space, such as your workspace.  It’s either productive or unproductive.  How do you feel when you step into that environment?  Does it inspire you to act or does it cause you to shut down?

3.      Beliefs – Most people’s beliefs are really dictating their results.  Thus, it’s important to replace any beliefs not serving you with empowering ones – by dissolving the disempowering beliefs and uncovering the true power already within you.

4.      Goals – It’s important to know what you DO want, not what you DON’T want.  Clarity is the key.  You also need to give yourself full permission to commit to and achieve your goals.

5.      Language – Internal & external.  Pay attention to your head talk and the words you use.  Are you using victim language or empowering words?  Your words are prescriptive and have power in your life.

6.      Emotions – You can’t change your emotion by willpower.  Identify what’s not working, and determine what you would rather be feeling instead?

7.      Identities – This is the roles you play; your being, not your doing.  Make sure your roles serve you & your life’s purpose.

It’s Your Choice…

If you’re unwilling to be non-negotiable with your environments, then you are willing to be negotiable with your goals. Step up, or settle.
