Your mindset is the cornerstone of your mental foundation. Just like the foundation of a building provides strength and stability, your mental foundation is imperative to success. Without it, everything will crash down.

There are 3 Keys to Mastering the Mindset of Success:
  1. Take 100% Responsibility
  2. Choose to be Positive
  3. Eliminate Disempowering Words

Take 100% Responsibility

Responsibility keeps you in control of your life. You are never a victim of your circumstances because you have the power to control your response. Responsibility describes your ability to respond; “respond-ability”.
While you are not responsible for things that happen to you and you usually can’t control what happens, you can ALWAYS control your reactions to what happens, or your response.
For example, how do you respond to socks on the floor? I had a great discussion on this topic recently. My advice was that if anyone is frustrated with socks on the floor (not theirs), that they should just pick them up. This advice was not met with cheers, but stares of disbelief.
The reality is that if the socks on the floor lead to turbulence in your house because of how you respond, you’re responsible for creating that. If you think about what it is you really want to create in your home, it’s probably not turmoil.
I believe most people want to create peace in your home, and I know picking up the socks might lead to that, but picking a fight will not. It’s your choice, and your responsibility to create what you want.
Choose to be Positive
Just like you can choose to pick up the socks or pick a fight, you can choose to be positive. It really is a choice. Successful and significant people choose to find the lesson in every challenge, where unsuccessful, grumpy people choose to find the challenge in every situation.
Whatever you’re looking for, you will always find. So if you look for the good, you will find it. And remember to be authentic as you look.
Eliminate Disempowering Words
There are 3 words I recommend you remove from your vocabulary – try, can’t and failure.
To quote Yoda, “Do or do not. There is no try.” It’s good advice to live by. If you don’t quite understand, grab a pen. Now, TRY to let it go. You’ll see you’re still holding the pen. When you do things, you take action, not try.
Can’t is an often misused word. Think about all the things you say you “can’t” do. Is that true? Or are you simply choosing not to? I challenge you to replace can’t with that phrase, and be at choice instead of being a victim.
Failure is just an opinion of an outcome. You can choose a different opinion, and learn everything you can from undesirable outcomes.

Remember, when you take 100% responsibility, choose to be positive, and eliminate disempowering words, you’re strengthening the foundation of your mind…and with that, you can achieve success.
