Instead of things fizzling this summer, find out how to make them sizzle!

Summer’s Here!
If the rise in temperatures causes you to ramp up your business, then you’ve got nothing to worry about! However, if summer means kids are home and you lose your focus, or the longer days cause you to linger and things slow down or stop altogether, then your business will suffer!
3 Attitudes to be Aware of…
- What you expect is what you get. If you’re expecting summer to slow your business down, then it will! But summer is the perfect time for lifestyle marketing – it’s easier to connect with people, because more people are out & about in the summer. The atmosphere is more casual, and there are an abundance of opportunities to engage with people that don’t happen at other times of the year.
- It’s all or nothing. Meaning, if your business has to look a certain way for it to work, then when it doesn’t look that way, it won’t work. For example, if your business works when your kids are in school, then when your kids are out of school, your business doesn’t work. Or, if you normally work 6 hours a day when kids are in school, and choose to work only 2-3 hours a day during the summer, don’t expect the same amount of activity and outcomes because it will only lead to frustration. Do what you can to make yourself feel good about staying in motion, and be flexible, because it will help you to feel free.
- Trust the process. If you are intentional and attune to building your business all the time, and do something for your business every day, if you trust that the right things are occurring, then you will flourish rather than flounder, in time.
3 Actions You Can Take
- Stay in motion. Getting or staying in motion solves most problems. When you stop taking action, it becomes more difficult to get back in motion, but when you keep moving, you continue to build the momentum. Don’t give in to the all or nothing attitude again: if your goal is to make 20 calls a day and something happens and you only have 10 minutes to make calls, many people choose not to make any calls because they can’t do all the calls. But if you use the 10 minutes to make as many calls as you can, then you at least made an effort at activity and can reap the rewards.
- Schedule things and be deliberate. Sit down with your team and ask them what they’ll do to keep their business growing in the summer. Choose times to get together. Perhaps it can include family time, too, so there’s the social aspect to it that people enjoy in summer. Also, make sure to keep your weekly calls and meetings in your schedule, to stay plugged in! For your own personal business, make sure you talk with your family and come up with a schedule so you can continue working your business in the summer and still enjoy family time, too.
- Be present outside your business. Don’t create resentment for your business or your freedom during the summer months. Remember why you started your business – it probably had something to do with achieving greater freedom in your life. If you take more time off during the summer, but wish you were working the business more, then you’re robbing yourself of that time freedom you wanted. Appreciate the flexibility you have, and create and maintain boundaries to allow yourself to be fully present where you are, whether you’re working or enjoying your freedom and family time.
