Erasing your limiting beliefs is by far the most powerful step you’ll ever take toward achieving all your dreams and goals. Without an empowered belief system, you will always sabotage your success and fall short of your potential.
By now, if you’ve read my blogs, you are well aware of what limiting beliefs are, how to identify your own, and the process by which they’re created. There’s only one step left… to blow them out of the water for good!
Before explaining how to do that, let’s talk about what doesn’t work…
~ Telling yourself not to. You’ll never be able to solve an emotional problem with logical avoidance called “just don’t do it”. That’s why telling yourself “Don’t take it personally” doesn’t work – it never has and never will – to overcome a deep fear of rejection or failure.
By now your limiting beliefs have become unconscious emotional responses that bypass your logical reasoning. In the moment, you don’t logically decide to feel terrible when someone rejects you. It’s automated: You get rejected, you feel terrible. Simple logic cannot undo that emotional connection, especially when it has existed for many years.
~ Pretending the events didn’t happen. Your unconscious mind knows they did. It remembers everything. Trying to fool yourself not only doesn’t release the belief, it actually makes it stronger. Whenever you’re trying hard to avoid something, you’re really energizing it with your focus and making it worse.
~ Coping with it. You were not created to cope with your limitations. Enough said.
In all my studies, the only empowerment technology that has the strength to erase all your limiting beliefs quickly and forever is…
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP is basically the owner’s manual for the brain. When you understand how you process and store all your information and learning, you can reprogram your mind for success and empowerment through various language patterns.
When scrutinized properly within the teachings of NLP, all of your limiting beliefs will eventually fall because they are unnatural – they’re not based on truths. They are based on interpretations made by a child’s mind at a very young age.
And after so much evidence collecting, we can easily mistake our beliefs for the truth – it’s just who we are. We start to buy into our own story of suffering & victimhood, and fight for our limitations. Not good.
However, if you would have made a different interpretation of what happened, one that was either positive or neutral, the limiting belief would have never been created in the first place. Therefore, the negative interpretation is the problem. That’s the seed which eventually grew into long-term emotional restriction.
In order to dissolve the negative belief, we must “reframe”, or change your interpretation of, the events you experienced. It probably sounds too easy to be true. I thought so too until Nov. 17th, 2005, when an NLP empowerment coach helped me drop all my limiting beliefs with one simple exercise that took less than 15 minutes in a crowded hotel lobby.
Sometimes reframing requires advanced “change work” to massage the way your mind is holding onto the problem, and sometimes it only takes a few simple questions. I have personally dissolved a client’s deep seeded emotional belief of not being loveable, which stemmed from years of sexual abuse, with one simple question. Granted, it usually takes a little more than that, but…
I’ve never seen it take longer than 3 hours to completely and permanently reframe someone’s entire history of pain and suffering.
Regardless of what your belief is, whether or not you are aware of the events that led to it, or any of the other details whatsoever, this process can work for you to provide immediate release of the fears, pain and restriction so you can live a life of emotional freedom and empowerment.
