Most people are focusing on the wrong things. They keep trying to create results that are impossible to create and sustain without the correct recipe. You must stop trying to follow shortcuts if you’re going to build a foundational business.
The only thing that will create what you want to create is habit. Not knowledge, or skills, or desire, or anything else. Only habits move the needle toward success. The truth is, if you do not focus on the necessary recipes and habits, there is no way you will be able to succeed long-term.
Most people are focused on results instead of recipes. And, it is natural to want results. The mind wants to achieve our goals and it wants us to get there as fast as possible. It is programmed to look for shortcuts and wants to avoid any and every obstacle.
Here’s the truth, if you are not getting what you want, it is because you are not following the right recipe.
If you want a six-figure business and you’re not there yet, it’s because you are not following a six-figure business recipe. It doesn’t matter if you really want a six-figure business or if you’ve been thinking about it for a really long time.
If you are not getting what you want, you have a recipe problem, not necessarily a strategy problem.
The intellect will often think there is a strategy problem and so it will look for the next strategy that could possibly work. We become addicted to the addition of information, continuously adding new things into our brain believing that because we are not succeeding, we must be missing something. The intellect thinks that if we don’t have what we want, it is because of an information deficit. The intellect will always think the problem is information and it will always think the solution is information.
But, no one has ever acquired information and changed their life. Information is great, but it doesn’t automatically guarantee success. The success we desire will not be achieved through the simple acquisition of information, the access to information, or the mere existence of information. The only thing that has that power is implementation.
Simply put, if you are not getting what you want, there is a recipe problem based on an implementation problem.
If you are a coach, a speaker or a trainer… you are a creator and creation is a different animal than what you might be used to at your job or even co-creating with someone else’s product or information. When you are the sole source of creation, that is a different game. Creativity is vulnerable and sacred and can feel scary. We want our creation to be perfect before we put it out into the world for judgment.
The problem is, it is impossible to perfect a creation before we create it. Most people are stuck in a situation where they are unwilling to do the activity until they know it’s really good, but they are forgetting that it cannot and will not get really good until they do the activity. You become good at creating your craft by building the habit of creation.
Habits are not created with intensity; they are created with consistency.
Instead of focusing on the results you want and trying to get there as quickly as possible, think about the habits you need to create in order to predictably produce the results you desire, and then make THAT habit your focus.
