Most people want growth & expansion to be fast, especially in their business, but what you really want is sustainable growth – for both yourself and your business – and that often happens gradually. To understand this better, let’s look at six components of G.R.O.W.T.H.:
Gratitude
Growth begins with gratitude. You cannot attract more if you’re not grateful for what you have. There’s a saying that, ”If God gave you $1 and you weren’t grateful for that, why would He give you any more?" Be grateful for what you have, and even what you don’t. It’s ok to still want more – gratitude and desire are not in conflict – we are designed to live a prosperous life. Yet if you don’t appreciate and give thanks for what you have, you will not encourage the Universe to provide you with any more.
Responsibility
Responsibility is really being in control of everything in your life. Responsibility is not the same as fault; being responsible doesn’t mean that you are at fault, it means you are in control. If you’re blaming, shaming or justifying things, then success will be difficult because you’re giving away control! You control your response to everything! When you take responsibility for your life, it creates attraction – other people will want what you have. If you’ve ever been discouraged or felt let down because other people didn’t do what they said they were going to do, you’re giving them your power, and reducing your attraction. Stay in control of your thoughts and emotions with 100% responsibility.
Optimism
Take the most generous & positive interpretation of events you possibly can. You can choose an immense range of reactions to anything, and you might as well look at everything with the lens of optimism. While we all may have tendencies one way or the other (positive or negative), we can begin to see the world the way we want to by continually choosing to see it that way. If you notice negativity creeping in, and if you want it to be different, choose to create the experience you want. This doesn’t mean "bad" things won’t happen, but you can always look for even the slightest sliver of good.
Wait
Waiting goes against how we tend to operate, but you’ve got to trust the timing. But when it comes to growth, sometimes that’s exactly what we have to do – WAIT:
Watch
As
It
Transpires
This means even though you’ve got to take action, it doesn’t mean you should try to force things to happen.
Waiting is also a critical aspect of growth when it’s applied to things that trigger certain reactions in us. When something happens and you tend to react in a certain way, if you wait just a second longer than usual to react, you can tame the trigger and create a different response with time, effort, patience and practice.
Trust
You have the answers within you and your intuition is the guide – trust yourself! The opposite of trust is doubt – so if you don’t trust yourself, you’re doubting yourself, and when you doubt yourself, you set yourself up for failure, not success. Seek help if you have trouble with self-trust.
Habits
How you do things without thinking are your habits. Here lies the key to gradual growth: establish habits to help you get where you want to be. When you’re establishing habits, you have to think about them and keep doing them consistently until they no longer require thought, but are ingrained. It takes time and energy at the beginning, but saves you time and energy once the habits have been established, and your results will be remarkable!
