Fear causes you to create the exact thing you’re scared of…so learn how to let it go.
What is Fear?

Fear is often defined as “false evidence appearing real” – which simply means that it’s something we make up and yet act as if it is true. And your unconscious mind does not distinguish the difference between reality and vividly imagined events – so if you’re really good at visualizing your fear (which many of us are), then you’re creating all kinds of emotions that are probably paralyzing you!

The dictionary definition of fear is “a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined.” So if you can eliminate the impending danger or pain, fear can’t exist.
Can you Eliminate Fear?
You can get rid of fear by proving it to be false.
Understand that all fear is based on two things:
  1. Physical safety
  2. Emotional safety
Fear actually functions as a safety mechanism to keep you safe, which may not make much logical sense, but it’s the truth. When you understand why and how fears were created, it’s easier to function without them.
What to do When You Feel Fear
Some people say “feel the fear and do it anyway,” but that’s like telling someone to push it aside and just struggle through it. And I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not struggle.
It’s a great concept, but it’s important to loosen up the fear first. So here are some questions you can ask yourself to loosen the fear:
  1. What are you afraid of?
  2. What are you really afraid of?
  3. How likely is it that its going to happen?
  4. If it does happen, how bad will it be?
  5. If it does happen, is it permanent?
Chances are, you’ll realize that the fear is not as big of a deal as you made it out to be. Then go to “do it anyway.” =)
Be Here Now
Another way to eliminate fear is to stay present, or be here now. When you stay present, you’ll realize that all fear is based on the past, and projected into the future. Right now, at this very moment, fear doesn’t exist. It’s simply something we imagine.
Here are a few ways to help you stay present:
Learn More Online
There is so much more to share about fear, and only a portion of the recorded call actually made it onto the CD sent in your November package. Thus, I urge you to access the recording online through the Eagles Club membership site, and take a listen.
I talked about fear as it relates to goal setting, which is powerful and important. I also expanded more on how language has an impact on your fears, too. Plus there’s the Parenting Piece and Marriage Minute, which offer some insights on how to handle fears with children and loved ones.
So don’t be afraid. Go ahead and listen online. 😉 ~ SS
