If you’ve ever resisted starting over, thinking it feels like regression, failure, or resignation, you’re not alone.  Even with your ego judgments and emotional connections (feeling like you’re not enough), sometimes choosing to B.E.G.I.N. Again really the best option.

Where Are You?

You are where you are.  Try not to feel bad about it or apologize for it, because when you do, you affirm that you’re not where you want to be or where you feel you should be.  With affirmations like that, you’re only encouraging yourself to stay in that space.

If you want to empower yourself, you need to nurture yourself.  Start by openly embracing and acknowlecdging where you are, so you can change it.  The fact that there’s frustration regarding where you are means that there’s ambition underneath it.  Let’s use that ambition and B.E.G.I.N.:


Breathe. When you breathe, it’s like you’re taking inventory and becoming present.  Focusing on your breath allows you to see and be connected to what is.  When you become aware of what is, you can embrace it and accept it.  Becoming present, you’re not connected to past pains or future fears.


Envision. Once you’re connected to where you are now, then take a moment to look at or envision where you want to go.  Don’t just see the finish line, though, you’ve got to emotionally connect to the outcome you desire, too.  Give yourself permission to dream expansively, like you did when you were a kid – before you knew or felt any fear or failure.  Envision the dreams you love, the dreams that bring you excitement and what you are willing to fight for, despite any fears.  Envision the emotions you would experience when you achieve your dreams, and really tap into them, so you can use those feelings to fuel you through any fears or “failures.”


Goals. Set goals based on the dreams and desires of your heart, not what your head thinks.  When you let your head set your goals and hope to inspire your heart, you’re generally going to be disappointed.  Your heart is what fuels your ability to go after your goals, so it’s best to set goals from that space.  When you get clear on your goals, then you’ve got to create action plans to help you achieve them.


Invite.  Invite people to join you in your journey.  You will only achieve your goals if you get the support you need from others.  While the dream may be yours, you should not try to achieve it alone.  Whether you need a coach, a mentor, an accountability partner, a support system, a friend to have fun with along the way, you’ve got to invite people to play with you and work with you, too!  Inviting others to join you on your journey will make it easier and more enjoyable.


Nourish.  When you plant a garden, you’ve got to continue watering the seeds if you want them to grow.  You’ve got to give them the nourishment they need.  Just like those plants, you need to nourish yourself in order to keep growing and blossoming.  Even if you’ve invited others to join you and they are there to help, your nourishment begins from within.  Appreciate yourself and be proud of yourself, regardless of the results.  Love yourself unconditionally, every day.
